As a wedding videographer my ethos is to be as unobtrusive to the day as possible. I aim to capture your wedding with hands off approach. However, during your bridal preparations there’s a chance to take some simple steps to get the most beautiful imagery out of your preparations.
1. NATURAL LIGHT
Natural Light is everything! It is the key to beautiful imagery, I’d recommend always having your hair and makeup done by a window if it’s possible. This gives your make-up artist, photographer and your videographer the opportunity to use and experiment with the best available light the room has. This also makes for a beautiful cinematic look, see some examples below.

2. Switch off lights
Switch off your interior lighting! This works hand in hand with point 1. Switching off your interior lighting removes any orange hues from your wedding videos. Contrast is added to your images and skin tones look so much more beautiful and it links into using that available natural light to produce a more refined and natural look to your films.

3. keep it tidy
Keep your surroundings as tidy as possible. I know it’s probably an obvious one but keeping your space for preparations clean and tidy will look so much more elegant in your wedding video.

4. PICK THE best spot
Wedding couples invest a lot of money in there wedding venues to sometimes be huddled into a tiny preparation room with no windows. If it's a gorgeous and elegant location say to your venue you'd like to have your preparations in one of the grand bedrooms. If it's possible, choose the biggest and most elegant room available for your preparations at your wedding venue. It'll really set the scene for your films.

5. allow plenty of time
Allow plenty of time, more than you think you need. From experience time is of the essence and tends to somehow magically pass faster on the morning of the wedding. Allow plenty of time; more than you think you need for your preparations, this will help you remain relaxed and not feeling rushed.
A videographer will often have to dash away towards the end of your preparations to get ready for the main event. (Your ceremony) So allowing plenty of time for putting your dress on and your fathers first look means that they are easily able to capture all of this. Food for thought your videographer will generally need 30 minutes prior to your ceremony to setup audio and cameras, so allowing for this is a great idea.

6. enjoy yourself
Bonus tip - Relax and enjoy the anticipation of an amazing wedding day ahead.
